Reading is such an important part of learning. In class, we will be reading a variety of texts including narrative and expository. This year we will be focusing on close reading a text. In other words, we will be going deep into the story. Students will learn tools that will help them go back into the text to answer questions. They will be doing a lot of writing in order to explain their thinking. My hope is that this year your child transitions from learning to read to reading to learn and that their love for reading grows tremendously.
